Everything you need to know before your hunt
Getting Started
Never hunted in the great state of Illinois? Get started by checking out the Illinois Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations to ensure a trouble free hunting experience at South Fork Outfitting. We work closely with our regional DNR office so any questions or concerns you may have can get answered straight from the source.
License
Please refer to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources website to purchase permit, hunting license, and habitat stamp. Permit, license and habitat fees are the responsibility of the hunter.
Deposit Policy
A payment of $1,000 is due when making your reservations, with the remaining balance due 60 days prior to your beginning hunt date. Deposits will not be refunded. In case of cancellation, deposits can be transferred to another hunt if made within 60 days of your original reserved hunt date.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 60 days prior to the scheduled hunt date. Guests cancelling less than 60 days prior to scheduled hunt date will be charged the full amount of their reservation.
Management Policies
As part of our deer management, hunters must harvest a buck with a gross Pope & Young score of 140+. Hunts in the late season require a gross Pope & Young score of 150 minimum. Any buck not meeting this criteria will result in the hunter paying an additional $1,500 fine. The hunter is also encouraged, but not required, to shoot at least one doe while hunting.
Wound Policy
When harvesting a buck of a lifetime, accurately shooting and retrieving your deer are of the utmost importance. Here at South Fork Outfitting, we will do everything in our power to track down and retrieve your deer. If the deer is not retrieved, it is considered a kill and your hunt is over.
